Wind Turbine TowersAlthough it has a lifetime of 20 years, corrosion and paint damage may start on its surface over time due to adverse weather conditions and seasonal changes. Oil contamination during service, dirt, soot and damage caused by combustion may damage the tower surface if the damage on the outer and inner surfaces of the tower is not intervened and maintained in a timely manner.

Extreme Jobshas the experience, equipment and expert technicians to access and intervene in the most effective way to the dirt and damages on the surface of Wind Turbine Towers. Each service work applied is provided by expert technicians in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.

Extreme WORKS technicianshas taken part in many WPP projects in our country and abroad. Our team is constantly renewing itself, adding the latest technology and equipment to its experience and reflecting it directly to its work. All of our personnel working in our Wind Turbine projects have successfully completed a series of accredited special trainings, especially GWO ST (Global Wind Organisation Safety Training) and IRATA International (Industrial Rope Access Trade Association), and their trainings have been certified and recorded by international independent training institutions.

Tower Control (NDT)

NDT is a rational strategy to know the general condition of the tower surface, to check it in time and to prolong the tower life.

The most common request for welding or paint inspection on wind turbine towers is to reveal fabrication defects or damage caused during service. Another reason is to identify damaged spots on the tower surface that have been subjected to climatic changes. For the examination of these welds and damage over time, we apply well-known NDT methods (Non-Destructive Testing) as the Extreme WORKS team.

As EXTREME WORKS, our technicians have Level 2 certification in the European Standard. Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) consists of various inspection techniques used to evaluate material properties, components or entire process units. Techniques can also be used to detect, characterise or measure the presence of damage mechanisms (e.g. corrosion or cracks).

NDT is a specialised industry requiring expertise. After completing their certification, our technicians have received 40 days of in-house, Turbine Tower Control specific NDT training from turbine manufacturers. They have the experience to provide the most accurate reporting.

In general, NDT offers many advantages. The most basic is to secure your tower. The test equipment we use is calibrated according to the type of test to be performed by independent institutions before the application.

The test method usually depends on the type of environment or the equipment used to perform the test. The available NDT methods that we can apply are as follows:

Fluid Absorption Test (PT),
Magnetic Particle Testing (MT),
Radiographic Testing (RT),
Ultrasonic Testing (UT),
Visual Test (VT)

The controls we carry out as the Extreme WORKS team are generally applied to detect damage on the tower surface, apply steel NDT test and paint measurement. It is recommended that the towers are inspected regularly every year. Extreme WORKS technicians have the team and equipment to provide service within 32 hours for the damages detected during the inspection.

Renewable structures of all types require periodic inspection and maintenance throughout their service life. Wind Turbine casing is one of these structures. Without proper maintenance, the degrading effects of the environment over time can reduce the functional life of the tower steel.

Corrosion (metal fatigue due to an unusually strong wind event, prolonged wind-induced vibrations or overloading of the structure) can damage structures and cause catastrophic failure or damage. The most common forms of damage are weld damage, concrete cracking and deterioration of coatings.

Extreme Works Technicians have international experience in corrosion repair and paint applications on wind turbine towers. Our technicians have received training and supervision services from Paint and Turbine manufacturers on tower corrosion repair and have provided service in many turbine towers in our country.

Extreme WORKS recommends regular maintenance and inspection of the tower surface for the longevity of customer investments.

As Extreme Works Team, we provide consultancy and reporting on Burnt Turbine Cleaning and Post-Burnt Damage Assessment. We take the necessary security measures and create access lines in the turbine to provide access to the Fire Inspection Inspector and Insurance Expert for Damage Assessment.

After the detection, we provide service with our expert technicians in the field of dismantling and installation works in case of need.

Reporting Process

As Extreme Works Team, we provide consultancy and reporting on Burnt Turbine Cleaning and Post-Burnt Damage Assessment. We take the necessary security measures and create access lines in the turbine to provide access to the Fire Inspection Inspector and Insurance Expert for Damage Assessment.

Safety and Application Method

In addition to working at height, many products used in body production are considered chemically hazardous to human health if they are worked without taking the necessary precautions. As Ekstrem İŞLER, we always read the safety data sheet of the products we will use before starting repair or application.

Our team does not start working before the equipment and work safety precautions included in the safety instructions are provided. Every day, technicians are informed about the existing hazards and precautions to be taken by the team chiefs. In case of faulty or missing materials, each technician is authorised to stop work.
